Dr Elizabeth Parlato |  Senior Ecologist

Liz combines her experience in ecology, policy, farming and natural resource management to support evidence-based decision-making and find innovative solutions to challenging environmental issues. Over the past 20 years, Liz has worked for central government and tertiary institutions, and has been involved with her family’s farm. Liz’s work spans science, policy and on-the-ground implementation, giving her a strong understanding of the pressures associated with balancing the use and protection of natural resources. Liz draws on her diverse experience to come up with practical, effective solutions to tricky problems faced by decision-makers.

• Development of management advice on environmental and conservation issues

• Data processing, analysis and modelling

• Policy review and analysis

• Risk assessment and mitigation

• Multi-stakeholder processes for collaborative development of management strategies

• Provision of scientific and technical advice to support decision-making

Outside of work, Liz likes getting outdoors – whether out on the farm, watching her children’s sports games, horse riding, tramping, bird watching or running…she enjoys it all.
