EMILY BURNS | Marine and Freshwater Scientist
Emily combines her training in marine and freshwater science with her experience in resource management to find evidence-based, sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. Emily’s experience spans developing on-farm solutions to nutrient leaching and sedimentation of waterways, and sustainable use of natural capital to water resource compliance and monitoring at property, catchment, and industry-scales. This broad experience has given Emily a strong understanding of the many tensions in managing resources in the face of growing climate change and natural capital scarcity, and the associated economic and societal pressures.
Emily enjoys getting alongside clients to devise natural capital-centric approaches and test innovative and creative pathways to successful outcomes.
When not at work Emily can be found out in the great outdoors, exploring our wild places in tramping boots, running shoes, or on the pedals.
Emily's areas of expertise include:
-
Technical review and analysis of impacts of climate change and emissions to receiving environments
-
Working alongside clients and communities to devise effective environmental solutions
-
Compliance monitoring
-
Resource consent applications and submissions
