Dr Fleur Maseyk | General Manager | CONSERVATION SCIENTIST
Over the last 20 years Fleur has worked for central and local government, for a private ecological consultancy, an international conservation NGO, and as a postdoctoral research fellow. This has given her a broad-ranging experience in conservation and natural resource management across theoretical, strategic, and policy levels, and first-hand experience in the realities of its implementation. Fleur relies on robust evidence to inform decision-making and links science, policy, and on-the-ground actions to solve crunchy problems.
Fleur brings with her a tireless enthusiasm for rowdy debates on society, politics and place, and a primary school certificate for dramatic ability.
With The Catalyst Group from the beginning, Fleur took things trans-Tasman when she received an ARC Australian Postgraduate Award and a Centre of Excellence for Environmental Decisions Top-Up Scholarship in 2012 to complete her PhD at the University of Queensland. Fleur’s research focused on applying ecosystem services thinking to conservation and natural resource management decision-making. Now based in Wellington, Fleur continues to blend both research and client-based projects.
fleur’s areas of expertise include:
-
Natural capital and ecosystem service approaches to natural resource management
-
Biodiversity offsetting theory, policy, and implementation
-
Land management practices and farm planning to integrate biodiversity into production landscapes
-
Biodiversity policy development
